Hi everyone. I’ll be showing you today how to make chocolate covered strawberries at home. Who doesn’t like them right? They are so classy and indulgent, which is a common gift during holiday season. I love them any day. 😀 #easy chocolate covered strawberries #Strawberry chocolates #Gift ideas
Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C, fibers, and antioxidants. They benefit heart health and in controlling blood sugar. They also contain few minerals like manganese, potassium and folate.
Let’s see what ingredients are needed. Please check below for a detailed recipe and the correct metric system measurement of the ingredients.
Ingredients:
Fresh Strawberries – About 25
Chocolates to melt: I am using 3 varieties.
Semisweet chocolate morsels/chips – ½ cup or 113.4 gm
White chocolate morsels /chips – ½ cup or 113.4 gm
Dark chocolate morsels/chips – ½ cup or 113.4 gm
Virgin Coconut Oil – about 2-3 drops (for each)
Mix-ins to sprinkle: I am using
Tutti Frutti – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
Rainbow Sprinkles – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
Finely Chopped Roasted Peanuts (or any nut of your choice) – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
Desiccated and Shredded Coconut – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
Crushed Graham Crackers – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
Mini Chocolate Morsels – ¼ cup or 56.7 gm or 4 tablespoons
You can adjust the quantity of ingredients as per your choice. Also, you can pick your choice of mix-ins to sprinkle.
Let’s jump to the recipe.
Instructions:
1. First rinse, pat dry the strawberries and keep it ready.
2. Line a large baking tray/sheet with parchment paper.
3. Melt the chocolate morsels/chips and keep it ready.
You can follow either of the methods to melt the chocolate.
A. Melting Chocolate Chips using MICROWAVE:
Melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave, CHECKING EVERY 30 SECONDS in order to prevent burning (very important). It should become a smooth creamy consistency. I added 2-3 drops of edible virgin coconut oil while melting chocolate, to get the desired consistency and to avoid quick hardening. You can use either or all of standard semisweet chocolate, white or dark chocolate chips as I mentioned before.
B. Melting Chocolate Chips on STOVETOP:
Take water an inch or two from the bottom of the small sauce pan and bring it to boil. Then simmer the stove. Place the heat proof bowl containing chocolate on top of the barely simmering sauce pan, allow it to melt while mixing into a smooth creamy consistency. You can use either or all of standard semisweet chocolate, white or dark chocolate chips as I mentioned before.
4. Coat or dip 3/4th of the strawberry in the melted chocolate. Sprinkle mix ins of your choice on top of the chocolate covered strawberries and place them on the lined baking sheet. Once all done, keep them in the freezer for about half an hour, so that the chocolate hardens and doesn’t stick. Remove them and serve chilled or at room temperature. They can be stored for about 3 days in refrigerator.
